Gaudham Yojana Chhattisgarh was started by the CM Vishnu Deo Sai on 10th of August 2025. In this Scheme provide shelter to destitute and stray cattle, improving their Breed, promotes organic farming, improves animal food, as well as strengthen Rural economy with cattle-based farming.
In a single shelter, a maximum of 200 animals will be taken care of in one place, and the Helper and Cow caretakers will get financial support for animal food and other expenses. In the 1st phase of this scheme, GauDham centres will be established near to Nation highways. With this scheme, employment will be generated, and it will also help to promote self-employment in rural areas.
Gaudham Yojana
This is a multi-Prolonged scheme in which various development programs are involved. In this one scheme, the government will tell you how to tackle rural welfare, promote organic farming and generate rural employment. Also, they will help you to set up cattle-based industries in this one scheme. This scheme jointly work of Chhattisgarh finance department and the animal husbandry development department. The implementation responsibility is given to the livestock development and animal husbandry Department.
This scheme give ensure of safety of animals, and the government also provides financial support to the cow protectors and Shepherds. This scheme also has some resemblance to the existing Godhan Nyay Yojana, in which the government will purchase cow dung at Rs 2 per kg. Gaudham Yojana is one step ahead of Godhan Nyay Yojana, in which they promote and build premium cattle shelters, give Financial support to caretakers, and collect funds for Fodder cultivation.

Objective of Gaudham Yojana
- Animals Safety and Welfare: Destitute and Stray Cattle from all over the state will be protected, and also provide them shelter and food. This will lower the number of animal Road accidents and illegal animal smuggling in the state.
- Generate jobs in rural areas: With this scheme, animal caretakers, cowherds of rural areas you will get a monthly financial support. This will give them a job opportunity and permanent income.
- Promote organic farming: The other objective of this scheme is to promote organic farming among farmers. The government will encourage farmers to use vermicompost and organic fertilisers. They also promote natural pesticides used in farming, which are totally chemical-free.
- Breed Improvement: This game also helped to promote breed Improvement using scientific cattle management methods. This will help them to enhance milk production.
- Cultivation of animal food: The state government also promotes large-scale green animal food with the help of a financial Grant provided by the government. Also, ensure that every animal gets a good quality of feed.
- Cow-Based Industries: After the development of Gaudhams, they produce cow-based products, from vermicompost to incense sticks. This will help you to generate new income sources for rural households.
Benefits of Gaudham Yojana
- Under this scheme, Cowherds get a monthly support of Rs 10,916, and Caretakers get a payment of Rs 13,126 per month. This is a direct and stable income source
- Financial assistance is also provided for animal food. The amount of food will increase every year.
- The state government will give a grant for fooder cultivation. In this scheme, the state government will provide Rs 47,000 per acre per year for green food or cultivation on the land that is near Gaudhams. This grant will provide up to 5 acres of land. The maximum annual Grant will be provided is Rs 2,85,000.
Guidelines of the Scheme
The complete process of setting up Gaudham is a step-by-step process:-
- Submission of proposal: District Administration will identify the location for Gaudhams. In this whole process, they will check the availability of land and the number of animals.
- Selection of the operator: In the selection process, registered Gaushalas will get preference. If they decline, then this opportunity will be open for the private operators, NGO, farmer-producer companies and Trusts.
- Review by District committee: A district-level committee will review all the applications. They will conduct a site verification and forward all the shortlist recommendations to Chhattisgarh Rajya Gau Seva Aayog. The final approval will be given by this Ayog.
- Element and Operations: When Approval will be came Aayog, then a formal agreement will be signed between the state government and the operator. After that, Gaudham, we will start their operations according to the scheme guidelines.
- Training and product development: Every Gaudham will work as a cattle shelter and Training Centre. Caretakers and residents get training on cow-based products.
Training Centre and Cow-Based Product
- Vermicompost: The cow-based product is Vermicompost, which is used as a fertiliser. This is produced from cow dung, and it will be converted to Vermicompost with the help of self-help women.
- Organic pesticides: Biopesticides and pest repellents produced from cow urine. It will reduce the use of chemicals in pesticides.
- Gau Kashtha: It is an eco-friendly log, also known as cow wood, made with cattle Dung. It is used in the Hindu religion and is also used as a substitute for firewood.
- Gonoil: With the help of cow urine, there are many organic products that will be made, which are used in the cosmetic industry.
- Agarbatti: Cow-dung-based agarbatti and Diyas are also used in the Indian Market.
Scheme Expansion To Surabhi Gaudhams
In the month of March 2026, CM Vishnu Deo Sai inaugurated Surabhi Gaudhams in 11 districts of Chhattisgarh. On the same day, the chief minister laid the foundation stone for the first large-scale cow sanctuary in Bhopal and Jogipur. This is a new development in Gaudham Yojana, in which the government solidify this scheme policy.
