A new scholarship for students who belong to the Scheduled Category and Schedule Tribe is launched by the Government of Odisha State. The Scholarship provides its benefits to students only if they want to do higher studies at top universities abroad. This is named as “Bidesh Sikhya Bruti Scheme Odisha”. This was announced on 18 August. Students can be going to pursue their PG and PhD-level courses.

This scheme is a sub-scheme of the existing scheme, i.e. Mukhyamnatri Medhabi Chhatra Protsahan Yojana. Via this scheme, eligible students receive financial support for their higher studies if they want to study abroad. The same announcement has been made by the officials of the Higher Education Department of the state.

Eligibility for Bidesh Sikhya Bruti Scheme
- Applicant must be a student and living in Odisha State permanently.
- Students can belong to SC and ST communities.
- The annual income of the whole family is not more than Rs.12 Lakhs per year.
- You must have secured admission in an overseas university ranked in the top 200.
- Students must pursue their higher courses from the same top-ranked universities, like Post Graduate Courses or PhD Courses.
- Students must not be government employees in any of the departments or organisations at the time of applying for the scheme.
Courses and Duration of Study
AS we all know, this scheme only provides benefits to students who want to secure their admission in top-ranked foreign universities. So the courses which are included in the scheme are Postgraduate and PHD. So for the Postgraduate, the financial support will only be provided for one or two years, which may depend on the course duration.
Apart from it, for PHD students, the financial assistance will be given only for two years. This scheme provides no extension.

The online application form has already started from 18 August through the Odisha State Scholarship Portal.

- Now have to start registering yourself by completing the online registration with the help of Aadhaar Card Number and Mobile Number.
- When you successfully create your account, now again login in the same.
