Chhattisgarh Government takes a new step in the empowerment of women. The state government launched the DWEEPTI Yojana. The official name of this scheme is Decentralised Women Empowerment on Energy and Policy for Transformative Inclusion. Under this scheme, women who are connected with self-help groups benefit from this scheme and also get a chance to become a solar panel expert, seller and service provider. This will help them generate new jobs in the solar industry.
Chhattisgarh DWEEPTI Yojana
With the DWEEPTI Yojana, Chhattisgarh women will become empowered in the solar industry. At this time in the solar industry, mostly men are working. Now, Chhattisgarh has become the first state to provide this type of facility to women. Women having a good oppunity who are connected with self-help groups. They will become entrepreneurs, sellers and technicians by connecting to this scheme. The state government has a Target to establish 5,000 women-led energy Enterprises and also create 50,000 green jobs. With this, the government aims to reach 5 lakh families in the next 5 years. Women selected for this scheme will get training, and after training, they will become Solar Didi.
The Panchayat and Rural Development Department has collaborated with the Transform Rural India organisation to develop this policy. Chhattisgarh became the first state in India in which women will be trained under this type of scheme. In the next 5 years, this scheme will be spread all over the state and provide benefits to 5 Lakh families.
Under this scheme check the State Power Distribution Company Limited, in cooperation with the district administration, has registered 13 cluster-level Federations, and 12 districts have been registered as authorised sellers of Pradhanmantri Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. They will give training, operations and maintenance work to women. They spread awareness about the solar plant installation among the public. For this, Solar Didi has been prepared at the local level, and they will help the public in case of any type of technical service.
Objective Of DWEEPTI Yojana

Objective to start this scheme is to generate new jobs for women. This scheme helps women to become entrepreneurs and self-reliant. Women of self-help groups get benefits of this scheme, and also they have a chance to become Solar panel sellers and technicians. With this scheme, clean and decentralised energy access in rural and tribal areas of Chhattisgarh will be provided. Chhattisgarh DWEEPTI Yojana Benefits
- This scheme is not just about employment but helps women become entrepreneurs. Women can easily start their entrepreneurial journey with this scheme. For successful implementation, women are not hired as labourers, but the state government form a cluster-level Federation, and the self-help groups will become authorised solar vendors. It will help them to become a part of the solar chain business.
- Woman also recognised as vendors under the PM-Surya Ghar Yojana. In some of the distincts of Chhattisgarh, some women entrepreneurs will be registered as vendors under the central government PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. This will allow them to install and provide service for solar rooftop systems.
- Women who are selected under this scheme will get special training for rooftop solar installation, maintenance, operations and Community awareness. In the Kabirdham district, 35 women were selected, and they completed their training and are providing technical support.
- The state government helps in buying the solar equipment in bulk, helping to keep costs down.
- Government creating a local-level technician base. It will resolve the local technical demand issue.
Eligibility Criteria
The DWEEPTI Yojana provides benefits to the self-help group. This is not a personal scheme. It helps women who collectively participate in this scheme belong to rural areas. You can check the eligibility criteria:-
- Only women applicants who are permanent residents of Chhattisgarh are eligible for this scheme.
- She should be an active member of a registered self-help group and linked with BIHAN SHG or cluster-level Federation.
- This scheme will provide technical Training in solar installation and its maintenance as well as operations. So it is not just a cash transfer scheme but a skill-based scheme.
How to avail the benefit of the scheme?
To avail the benefit of DWEEPTI Yojana, it is initiated through the community institution. The application process is not processed through any online application portal. You can follow a General process, which is mentioned below:-
- Join a Self-Help Group:- To participate in this scheme, you have to join your village SHGs. After the participation, you are eligible to avail the benefit of DWEEPTI Yojana.
- After the registration, you have to check whether the SHG is registered as a authorize solar vendor or not. If not registered, the group leader has to approach the rural development officer for registration.
- After completing the registration process, roll out the solar DIDI technical training program. In which selected groups get the opportunity to learn solar rooftop installation, their maintenance operations and Community outreach.
- The next step is to participate in the vendor/ enterprise setup process. In which CLF becomes an authorised channel partner for solar equipment sales and services.
- Accessing financial support if required through the flexible loan options.
- Provide services locally, in which installation and maintenance will be provided.
