Noni Suraksha Yojana in Chhattisgarh was started on 1st of April 2014 by the former CM Dr Raman Singh. This scheme was started under the Department of Women and Child Development. India has a long Gap in the gender ratio of boys and girls. Due to an increase in the drop rate of the girls’ ratio as compared to boys, this scheme has been started.
This scheme was started especially for the girls who were born in families below the poverty line. Newborn baby girls of the State get financial assistance, life insurance coverage and educational incentives. The purpose behind the launch of this scheme is to celebrate the birth of a girl child rather than being seen as a burden. According to the official portal, 132480 applications have been received till date under this scheme, in which 14900 are pending, 7479 are rejected, and 110102 are approved.

The Noni Suraksha Yojana help to improve the girl gender ratio and also helps to promote girl child education. When a girl child was born in indian family, they treated her like a burden. It is mostly seen among those families who are below the poverty line and who are facing financial issues. With Noni Suraksha Yojana, a girl child who was born after 1st of April 20214, will be eligible to register under this scheme. When a girl child registers for this scheme, then she will be eligible for Rs 1 lakh when she completes 18 years. This amount will be used for her higher education, marriage or starting her own business. This scheme discourages feticide and child marriage.

Noni Suraksha Yojana objective
- The primary objective of this scheme is to improve the girl child gender ratio in poor families.
- Under this government try to promote girls’ education, and they will provide financial support of Rs 1 lakh when the girl passes 12th class and remains unmarried at the age of 18.

Eligibility Criteria
- For the Noni Suraksha Yojana, the girl child’s parents should be permanent residents of Chhattisgarh.
- Girls who were born on or after 1st April 2014 are eligible for this scheme.
- The applicant girl’s family is from the BPL Category or has a BPL Ration Card.
- This scheme is only for the first and second daughters of the family.
- The girl should remain unmarried until the age of 18 to get the final benefit of the scheme.
- A girl should have to pass 12th standard to become eligible for this scheme.
Benefits for Noni Suraksha Yojana
- Life Insurance Coverage: When the girl child registers for this scheme, she will be enrolled for a Life Insurance Corporation policy. A premium of 5000 rupees will be paid for 5 years, which becomes Rs 25,000, which will help to build in the maturity benefits.
- Rs 1 Lakh Rupees: The other benefit is a lump sum financial support amount of Rs 1 lakh. When the girl completed its 18 year, passes 12th standard and does not get married, then she will receive a total of one lakh rupees directly into her bank account through DBT. She can use this amount for pursuing their higher education, use in a skill development course, start a small business or any other personal development purpose.
- Encourage girls’ education: The other benefit of this scheme is that it will help to encourage girls’ education. The daughter of the family completed her 12th standard she is eligible to get the financial support amount.
- Provide Social Security: This scheme helps girls to provide them with social Security when they get a lump sum amount of one lakh rupees. They also help their parents to withdraw this money for girl higher education or at the time of their marriage

- When you reach on the home page, you will see the program and schemes section.
- In this section, all the state and Central government schemes will be displayed on your screen.
- Now you have to choose Noni Suraksha Yojana from this list.
- Now the application form will open on your screen in a PDF format. You can download this form to your mobile phone or computer.
- Take a printout of this application form and then fill in this form with all the details.
- Attach all the necessary documents to this form.
- You can submit this application form to your nearest Anganwari Centre or the Women and Child Development Office of your District or block.
- After the submission, you will get a receipt. Retain it for future reference.
Selection Process
- Submit your application: Firstly, parents or guardians of the girl child have to submit the application with all the important documents.
- Verified by Anganwadi Worker or Supervisor: The local Anganwadi Worker or Supervisor will verify your application form and documents and check the eligibility.
- Review by Block/District Level: Now your application will be reviewed by the Women and Child Development officer at the block or district level.
- Approval: After the submission, all your documents will be verified, and your eligibility will be checked. If everything is found correct, then your application will be approved, and your LIC policy will start.
- Final disbursement: When the girl turns 18 and completed its 12th standard, you will get a final amount of one lakh rupees, which will be transferred directly into the bank account
