The government of Chhattisgarh launched the Financial Assistance scheme in 2020 in favour of Construction workers of the state. The scheme name is Nirmaan Shramik Mrtyu Evam Divyaang Sahaayata Yojana. This scheme offers financial help to all the registered and unregistered construction workers of the state in case of any kind of mishap.

This financial amount will be given to them at the time of natural death, death at the workplace and if, by chance, they get permanent disabilities due to accidents at the workplace. In this scheme, all the construction workers who are registered with the department, and those who are not registered with the department but work with the department. The scheme is run under the Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board of the State of Chhattisgarh. By launching this scheme, the government wants to provide financial help and security at the time of death or disabilities due to accidents to the families of the construction workers. The financial assistance will be given to them as a one-time stipend amount. Which means if any of the construction workers cause death due to accidents at the workplace, then their family will receive Rs 5,00,000, on Natural Death, receive Rs 1 lakh, and for permanent disabilities, they receive Rs 2,50,000/-.

Previously, these benefits were only given to those construction workers who were registered with the Department. But now the workers who, for some reason, are not registered with the department also received such financial assistance.

Features of Scheme

• One time Financial help: it is very hard for the family if their earner dies due to any cause. That’s why the government is going to support the family of the worker at the time of an accident or the death of the worker. Every family received one-time financial help from the CG Government.
• Disabilities Benefits: Any worker who, at the time of work, faces any kind of accident and is unable to start work again will also face so much financial crises for their families. That’s why Rs.2,50,000 given to them in case of disabilities.
• Beneficiary Cover: All the construction workers registered with the Department are eligible for the scheme. But now the government has also added non-registered beneficiaries to the scheme.
• Application Duration: The family can submit the application within one year of the death of the worker.
• Additional Benefits: At the time of cremation, some of the financial help may also be given on the spot. Apart from it, the children of diseased workers also get free educational help.

Financial Benefits Given to Construction Workers

• Accidental Death: In the accidental death of the workers at the workplace will receive Rs 5,00,000 as a one-time amount.
• Permanent Disability: All workers who get permanent disability at the workplace will receive Rs. 2,50,000 as a lump sum amount.
• Normal Death: If any of the workers who are registered or non-registered with the department his family received Rs. 1,00,000 on Natural death.

Eligibility Criteria for Construction Workers

• The construction workers of the Chhattisgarh state will be registered with the Building and Other Construction Workers Department of Chhattisgarh.
• All workers between the ages of 18 and 60 years will be eligible.
• The financial benefits will be given at the time of death or upon permanent disabilities.
• If any of the persons who get suicide or are involved in any kind of criminal activity are also not eligible for this scheme.

• Bank passbook of the workers and the nominee
• In Case of the death of the worker, a death certificate is required
